Stylin' & Profiling

As you know, I am on a dating site.  In hope of meeting "the one," I must fill out a profile that gives viewers enough info about me.  Then they formulate a decision as to whether I am worth more than a look see.  So here how mine reads right now...(keep in mind that was my first attempt at summing who I am up in a not too short, not too long paragraph).

I am a career oriented, strong willed woman looking for someone to round out my life. I love the outdoors, taking walks, running, watching movies, hanging at home.
I like sports but definitely not obsessed.
I listen to all different kinds of music but 80's are my favorite.
I have a lot to offer someone. I am goal oriented, loving, considerate, funny, stable, settled and am looking for the same in return. Life is not a dress rehearsal, so I plan on living it the best way I know how and I would like to share it with someone.
My favorite quote sums it up "Love is not gazing at each other but in looking outward together in the same direction" Antoine De Saint-Exupery

Short, sweet and to the point...at least I thought it was.  I am finding that I must be WAY MORE specific.  So, I thought I would attempt to write my new one here.  Let's see what you think!

Take a few...

I am a real woman, who is here with intentions of meeting someone to spend time with.  I am a busy, single mom/college student, homeowner, and employed for 14 plus years at the same company.  Although, my life is busy, I am willing to give my free time to someone who is willing to give me their time as well.

I am thoughtful, considerate, healthy, trustworthy, sweet, funny, silly, patient, smart, vulnerable, successful, driven, independent (not too independent) and a tell it like it is woman.  What you see is what you get!  My pics look like me, although, I feel they are not my best shots.  I am in the process of growing my hair out from a very short cut to a longer shoulder length style.  It is a difficult feat but it is progressing nicely.

I am attracted to men who are around my age or older but not older than 50. I have never dated inter-racially and I really do not plan to.  Although, I am far from prejudice!! I am not one who curses a lot.  I keep my mouth clean for my children and in my opinion, it is not very attractive for a woman to have a potty mouth.  I have an ankle tattoo (I was 18 and did not have very good judgement) but am not attracted to men who use their body as a canvas.
I absolutely love when a song says what I am feeling.  I use music as one way to express my love to someone.  I like all varieties of music.   I love to take pictures. I love the outdoors.  I like chick flicks.  If you like to go for walks, enjoy the mountains, and stop to notice unusual flowers, trees, or the stars we would probably get along.

Let me tell you more of what I am looking for...I have taken advantage of my years of experience to understand myself enough to know what it is I am looking for.

I want a man who is thoughtful, considerate, healthy, trustworthy, sweet, patient, funny, silly, smart, vulnerable, successful, driven, independent (not too independent)...I expect what I offer.

I am tired of men who need me to motivate them!  I am tired of giving more than I receive!  I am tired of making the man I care for a priority when all he does is make me an option!
TRUST is something that I give freely.  Don't lose mine!

I like sports but I am absolutely turned off by a man who would rather sit inside and watch sports than play them outside with me.  Obsessions are a major turn-off and do not work for me.

I am cautious about this way of dating.  So you must be patient.  I will not give you my phone number or real name the second e-mail you send me.  Like I said, I am smart!!

I am looking for someone who is actually available.  I am a one man woman.  I do not date around and if I am giving you my focus, I expect the same.  "Separated," does not work for me.  You need to be single/divorced not "almost divorced."

Lastly, long distance just doesn't work.  I live in Delaware County PA.  If you live in another state  or more than 45 minutes from my area please keep looking.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. Didn't I save you a lot of time!?! Me too (I hope)!

That is much better!  If they take the time to read it than they will know exactly what I am looking for.  If they e-mail me, I hope to assume that, even after reading my profile, they are seriously interested.  If I do not get any e-mails (realistically, this is a possibility), I can only assume...well instead of worrying about that, I will focus on my good intentions of saving my time and theirs, being open and honest, and being clear about my expectations.  Maybe, just maybe, Mr. Right is out there...we'll see.

Love a Nurse

You should definitely have a nurse in your life!!! LOL

Well, I have taken a break from the books to check in.  Albeit a short break.  I am up to my earlobes in Community Health Nursing.  Translation = term papers, text book reading, and research.  It's a blast!

UPDATE:  Passport application submitted and paid for.  Now I must wait 4-6 weeks to get that baby in my hot little hands...cannot wait!  What is the count now?!?...hmmmm...70 days...can I get a Whoot Whoot!!  Yea Baby!!

A picture can tell a 1000 feelings...

I just love it when a quote or a picture sums up just what I am thinking or feeling.  Is it possible to feel all of these ways in one day?!?  Well, I do most days.  I am stressed, frustrated, exhausted, overwhelmed, happy, sad, confused...oh I could go on but I think you get the point.  As I sit here going through this daily array of feelings, I just wonder when will it get better?  I mean will there be a time when I will just be pleasantly content, settled, happy (regularly)...I suppose you may be thinking...This is no way for a tough girl to talk.  I say those same things to myself and yet I cannot help my crappy attitude.

More importantly, I wonder what it is that I can do to improve where it is that I am right now. Is it loneliness, is it feeling sorry for myself, or is it just life?  I just thought of that movie "As Good As It Gets."  Is this as good as it gets?!? I really try hard to stay strong and from the outside I look strong.  But I will let you in on a little secret...I do not feel very strong at times...Actually, I feel like I have had to be too strong at the expense of who I really am.  I want to be weak sometimes.  I want to be vulnerable and a bit needy.  I don't want to have to hold it together all of the time and that be okay too.

My mom sent me this forwarded e-mail funny and one part cracked me up.  It was entitled "Men are like..."

"Men are like parking spots, all the good ones are taken and the only spots left are handicapped."

I have met men, fallen in love and they have fallen for me.  Have mentioned, however, in one way or another they were handicapped?!?  I would like to meet someone who's handicap is not life threatening or how about someone who is mental stable or maybe someone who is actually able to give me their time, love, and commitment!?!

I say I want all of these things and yet at this point in my life, I am so dang busy that I don't have much time to give to anyone.  I think that is why I have been missing Mr. Maryland so much.  We had an established relationship.  We did not have to "get to know" one another.  These things take time.  I still love that guy by the way.  He has also been in touch with me.  You heard me right...out of nowhere BAM an e-mail...He tells me he wants me back.  That he has been so sad without me.  He is willing to do anything at this point to be with me...blah blah blah...

Insert all of those confusing emotions here...I love him and yet he hurt me.  He loves me and yet he left me.  He left his wife again "for good" and yet he went back to her in the first place.  He wants to move closer and yet he cannot until he finds a new job and yet he, in my opinion, is not putting enough time and effort to find a new job.  He wants me to wait and yet I don't want to wait but then again I do not have time to find a new love.  And then it goes back to I love him and he loves me...AM I SETTLING?!?!?!?  In one way I think I am settling and in another, I am not.

I am on a dating website now.  I have been "chatting" with a couple of people.  However, when I look at my schedule I have just about three Friday nights a month to go out with someone.  Otherwise, I am getting a sitter, during a weeknight to meet up.  My work schedule does not favor having a life.  It is as plain as that and IT SUCKS!!

I am lonely.  I know it...I just hate to admit it because I have been so good at doing this on my own but Damn-it...I don't want to do it alone anymore!!!

I have rambled on enough...

...Flying So High...

It is BOOKED!!!

May 3, 2012 at 8:25PM, I will be on my way to Germany to see my brother and his family.  I could not be more excited!  I have never been out of the country.  In fact, I have only been to about a dozen states here.  I am what people call a "homebody."  I like being home.  Also, I am a natural germ-a-phobe.  I think it is the nurse in me.  So, going on airplanes and staying at hotels is not really my gig.  I get grossed out pretty easy.  Germ-a-phobe or not, I am outta here...well I will be in t-minus 93 days!   Yes, I counted!!

BTW, I broke the news to the kids last week and they cried, as expected, but are now on board with the mommy get away.

Mommy get away...I like the sound of that...in fact...I LOVE the sound of it!!!

Lights, Camera, Action

Let's talk movies...

I have many favorite movies.  I do not get much time to watch movies these days but I am always up for a good chick flick! Yes, Chick flick!  If I love it, I buy it and some how I never get tired of watching.  I suppose if you compared my "library" to others, it would seem pitiful.  I do not have many videos.  I must r-e-a-l-l-y LOVE it to buy it.  I mean, what a waste if you spend the money on something and never watch it.  Movies are not cheep!  Here is my "Top Ten" (at least today) favorites from my library!

1. The Hangover
2. Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas
3. Christmas Vacation
4. The Notebook
5. Disney's Cinderella
6. Enchanted
7. Nemo
8. Twilight Series
9. Friends with Benefits
10. Dumb and Dumber

They are not in any particular order.  I am looking at the list..very eclectic.  I wonder if someone did a personality test based on movies, what they would say about me?!?!  Maybe they would say I am a girl with a funny, romantic, kid at heart, personality.  Yeah, that about sums it up!

Now, I am looking forward to my next movie night :-)

Counting Down...

Hello again!  It is a rainy Tuesday here in Pa and I am enjoying my last week of freedom.  School is starting again next week and that means back to the books, papers, exams, and lack of any time to myself.  I have been enjoying the last 5 weeks of free time.  I have made good use of it too!  I have rested.  I have posted.  I did some volunteering at my kids school.  I have organized a closet or two, watched some movies, read a book...it all ends next week! Boo Me!!  The only positive is, the sooner I start, the sooner I graduate.  That, my friends, is a day that I cannot wait for!

Another day I cannot wait for is the day I can see my brother again.  If you do not already know, my little brother (aka Bud) is in the military (Go USA) and is stationed in Germany.  He left for Germany in July of 2010 and by my calculations it has been WAY TO LONG since I have seen him face to face.  I mean it is 2012 for goodness sake.  So, I made an executive decision to get my ass on a plane and go to see him.  I am going in May.  I figure, I cannot wait for school to be completely done before I go but I can go between semesters and that is exactly what I am doing.  I have arranged child care, filled out my passport application, and priced out the tickets.

All I have left to do is break the news to the kids.  They will be quite upset that they do not get to see "Uncle Dan."  I will be breaking two beautiful babies hearts with this news but I need to think of myself sometimes and this is one of those times.  I am sure the heart break will be temporary because it won't be long before I tell them that their Dad and I will be taking them to Disney World.  Once they realize that we have this trip in the works and that is why I cannot afford to take them to Germany, I think they may forgive me (maybe...hopefully).

The count down is on!
